Met Opera Hornist Barbara Jöstlein Currie launches her new company – Brass Witch – today!

Brass Witch makes magnetic pencil holders that fit securely onto any brass instrument, so that when the maestro gives comments, you can quickly pick up the pencil from the instrument, write the comments on the music page and reattach the pencil using one hand, via the strong NeoDymium “rare Earth” magnets. The vegan leather straps are made by instrument case maker Marcus Bonna in Brazil, who has an excellent reputation for crafting the highest quality cases for brass, woodwind and many string instruments.

These Brass Witch’s are being sold by Houghton Horns in Dallas, Texas, which is one of the largest brass shops in the country. Barbara will also be a featured artist at the International Horn Society symposium in Texas this year, performing with another Met Hornist, Julia Pilant and Principal Horn of the Philadelphia Orchestra (our sister orchestra with a shared Maestro!), Jennifer Montone.

There will be more exciting products coming in the future, all will surely cast a spell on every musician! Keep visiting her website, BrassWitch.com and Brass Witch’s social media for more pictures of Met Orchestra, NY Philharmonic, Saint Louis Symphony and Royal Concertgebouw musicians!
