Stephen M. Johns, tuba

Stephen Johns has been performing as an Associate member of the Met since he was a student at The Manhattan School of Music studying with the Mets principal tubaist, Herbert Wekselblatt.  Mr. Johns has been the principal tuba of New York City Opera since 1983, the American Symphony since 1990, and New York City Ballet since 1999.  Prior to studying at The Manhattan School, Mr. Johns spent two years at The New England Conservatory of Music.  Mr. Johns lives in New Jersey with his wife, Jan. They have two grown children, Hannah and Christopher.
