Ellen Westermann, cello
'Cellist Ellen Westermann is a native of Huntington, Long Island. She was a student of Leonard Rose at the Juilliard School from which she received B.M. and M.M. degrees. Shortly after school she joined the American Ballet Theatre orchestra and spent her summers at the Chautauqua Institution where she was principal 'cello of the Chautauqua Opera and assistant principal of the Chautauqua Symphony. Ms. Westermann spent a decade in the New Jersey Symphony and has been an associate musician at the Met for the last 25 years. She resides in Manhattan, New York with her two children, Lauren, a student at Yale, and David, who will be attending Hamilton College in the fall of 2014.
