Denis Bouriakov, Principal Flute
Appointed Principal Flute of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in 2009, Denis Bouriakov has one of the fastest growing careers amongst the flute players of his generation. In the past few years Denis has been in high demand as soloist, orchestral player, and teacher. His engagements include concertos, recitals and master classes in all over the USA, Asia, Europe and Australia.
He has won numerous prizes at some of the world's most prestigious international competitions, including Jean-Pierre Rampal, Munich ARD, Prague Spring, Kobe, and the Nielsen competition, to name a few. He has recorded the Bach Double Concerto with William Bennett and the English Chamber Orchestra. His first solo CD album featured the world premier recording of the Sibelius Violin Concerto arranged for Flute and was released in 2009 in the UK, and his second solo CD was recently released in Japan. He has made several arrangements of the Violin repertoire for Flute, which have been published by the Theodore Presser Company.
