Welcome to the 2014-2015 Season with the MET Orchestra!

We are unbelievably excited to be back. This is our first week of preseason, which means that we're rehearsing Le Nozze di Figaro and our first Carnegie Hall concert with our music director, James Levine. This author will be playing cymbals on Mahler's Symphony No. 9.

To celebrate the upcoming season, we've worked with the great opera magazine Opera21 to create an amazing issue features us, the MET Orchestra Musicians!

A Visit to the Music Library

There is always more going on at the Metropolitan Opera House than meets the eye: wig fittings, dance rehearsals, orchestral rehearsals.  One particularly busy corner of the Met can be found by descending two stories below the stage level to the music library.  Met 2nd violinist Sarah Vonsattel recently visited the library and spoke with Chief Librarian Robert Sutherland and Assistant Librarian Melissa Robason.
