VIDEO: The Intimacy of a Duet: Anthony McGill and Susan Graham sing La Clemenza di Tito

Principal Clarinetist Anthony McGill is one of the most famous clarinetists in the world. He has performed concertos with the MET Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony, the San Diego Symphony, and has recently been featured on a chamber album with the Pacifica Quartet.

Watch as Principal Clarinetist Anthony McGill describes the musical and emotional experience of performing a duet with the famed mezzo-soprano Susan Graham.

Playing in an orchestra pit physically separates instrumentalists from singers, but music brings them back together. When playing or singing a solo aria, the artist has many musically-adjustable components to determine, like phrase endings, rubato, intonation, and more. When in duet, artists must communicate these elements in real-time with each other through musical audio cues.

Anthony's new album with the Pacifica Quartet comes out May 27th, 2014. Click the image below to pre-order now.
